The long-awaited refurbishment work to the Market Place public toilets is now complete and an opening ceremony took place on 15th December, 2012 involving the Town Mayor, the Chairman of Teesdale Action Partnership and County Councillor Richard Bell.
Funding contributions from Barnard Castle Town Council, County Councillors Richard Bell, Barbara Harrison and George Richardson and the Teesdale Action Partnership made the revamp possible.
The refurbishment included the installation of a waterproof tanking system to the walls, roof and floor, a drain survey, a new electricity supply, new cubicles and upgraded external handrails, steps and gates and where possible, existing fittings have been re-used.
